I build whatever I want to build. Apparently that has turned into 50 public repositories, several board-game engines, native applications, protocol specifications, language experiments, and a few projects that exist purely because I needed to answer “what if?”
I don’t stay in one lane. The pattern lately is search, neural evaluation, reproducible matches, native tools, and open infrastructure for games nobody gives enough infrastructure to.
Sometimes I ship in a day. Sometimes I disappear into weeks-long builds.
Every repository is a laboratory—even the ones that end with “nope.”
Skallagrim — the research centerpiece
Skallagrim is my Rust/Python Copenhagen Hnefatafl engine and research platform. It makes three different ideas play both attackers and defenders under the same referee:
- Rho: CNN policy/value evaluation with MCTS
- Iota: NNUE evaluation with alpha-beta search
- Beta: NNUE evaluation with MCTS
OpenShobu — a tiny game gets a real ecosystem
OpenShobu has moved past “maybe I should write a protocol” and into an actual engine stack:
- Sekigahara: my handcrafted Rust Shōbu engine, USP client, and Maple Studio GUI. Version 0.4 is the current incumbent after beating the published v0.3 by 221–173–6 across 400 fresh 50 ms games.
- cani: a dependency-free Rust rules SDK with a copyable 24-byte state, allocation-free bot APIs, C ABI, C++26 wrapper, SFEN, SSGF, and USP support.
- Universal Shōbu Protocol Specifications: the formal rules, canonical state, saved-game format, protocol, conformance tests, and multi-language examples underneath the ecosystem.
tangOS-Native — decomp tooling without the browser tax
I’m working on a native fork of tangosdev/tangOS. TangOS Lite is a portable C++/Win32/TinySkia workbench for decompilation repositories: reviewed Git operations, GitHub integration, cancellable checks, streamed verification, live progress, and durable recovery state.
The upstream project and retained web implementation remain credited as the parity reference. A passing native build is not the same thing as feature parity, so the audit stays explicit.
- Eloi v4.0.0 shipped handcrafted four-player Teams with a native Rust/Win32 GUI and reproducible Windows packages. Kaggle training is retired; the release uses Eloi’s own evaluator and three-thread team alpha-beta search. It is hibernating, not waiting for a neural savior.
- 64DS-DX is my downstream SM64DS port/integration lane. The latest main work syncs Tango 0.9.1 and removes the earlier Waluigi experiment. ROMs and Nintendo assets stay outside the repository.
- MK7-Native is the long-term C++26/Vulkan route toward running Mario Kart 7 natively. It has reached scene-geometry submission and real pixel output, but it is not my loudest repository right now.
- LFE-NNUE shipped a native evolutionary ecosystem and then kept mutating into deterministic 2.5D habitats because apparently “complete” is flexible.
- Genseki is over and archived. Alpha won the argument; Nu never beat it. The engine, GUI, gauntlets, and failed neural work stay public as evidence.
- Sugar_Gliders: a maple-themed Rust instant-messaging and VoIP experiment with authenticated accounts, encrypted media, and a native desktop interface.
- ferromine-emu: an Apache-2.0 marker for a from-scratch Rust Original Xbox emulator. Development is planned for February 2027; the empty repository is a promise, not fake progress.
- SM3DL-Recomp: still planned for mid-January 2027.
- zelda-steve-bridge: an unfinished Ocarina of Mine experiment, archived immediately and honestly.
And yes, SubwaySkater is still pinned above almost everything. It has been empty since 2021. This is intentional and I refuse to elaborate.

I like neural systems, handcrafted search, native applications, reproducible experiments, open protocols, and failure reports that say what actually failed.
I will apply to Google DeepMind.
Until then, I’m turning the gap between curiosity and research engineering into public work I can explain: the rules, the data, the model, the search, the evaluation, the failure, and the system around all of it.
