CURRENT.UF2 starts at BOARD_FLASH_APP_START, but its directory size and each block's numBlocks used the size of the whole flash. On boards with a bootloader offset, that advertised blocks beyond the end of the readable application span; those trailing sectors were zero-filled.
Compute the UF2 block count from the application offset within the flash and use that count consistently for the file size, block metadata, and read bound. A ghostfat self-test configuration with a 64 KiB application offset covers the directory size and final generated block.
Validation
The new self-test fails against unmodified master with a ghostfat image mismatch.
All eight ghostfat configurations pass with the change, including 4k_appoffset.
Independent image inspection found 3,840 blocks, a 1,966,080-byte directory entry, and a final block at 0x080fff00 with numBlocks = 3840.
The prescribed full-board build was attempted, but this host lacks Docker and the vendor SDK dependencies, so those firmware builds did not run. The full pre-commit sweep reached the existing macOS-incompatible HIL signal wait after the standalone hooks above passed. No hardware testing was performed.

Walkthrough
Board configurations now provide flash-base and application-start values for UF2 sizing. ghostfat calculates the CURRENT.UF2 sector count from the flash remaining after the application start and limits generated blocks to that count.

Adds USB and UF2 identifiers and board compile definitions for 4k_appoffset. The shared application-start macro now preserves an existing definition. The two STM32H7 boards define the flash base as 0x90000000.
CURRENT.UF2 sector sizing src/ghostfat.c
Calculates the sector count from the remaining flash after the application offset, when that offset is within the reported flash size. Block generation now uses this count as its limit.
adafruit/tinyuf2#616: Adds a SAMD51 port with an application offset and a 1 MiB flash region.
adafruit/tinyuf2#586: Configures STM32H7 flash addresses, including external QSPI flash at 0x90000000.
adafruit/tinyuf2#597: Derives flash-base and application-start values for flash-span checks.

observed — src (service) was modified; 1 changed file maps to changed impact.
observed — ports (service) was modified; 8 changed files map to changed impact.
Before / after behavior
observed — Modified behavior in ports/test_ghostfat/boards.h: BOARD_FLASH_APP_START is defined as 0 only when no prior definition exists, replacing the unconditional definition.
observed — Modified behavior in ports/test_ghostfat/boards/4k_appoffset/board.cmake: Adds the UF2 flash-size setting and an update_board(TARGET) function that applies four UF2 and board-address compile definitions to the target.
observed — Modified behavior in ports/test_ghostfat/boards/4k_appoffset/board.h: Added the board header with an include guard and MIT license, plus USB and UF2 configuration macros for VID/PID, manufacturer, product, derived product name, board ID, volume label, and index URL.
observed — Modified behavior in ports/test_ghostfat/boards/4k_appoffset/board.mk: Adds the UF2 flash-size setting and appends compiler definitions for block count, sectors per cluster, flash addresses, and compile date/time.

Full details: Linked Issues check
Explanation
[#509] Requirement 1: file size and numBlocks must match the readable application span, (ADDR_ZERO + flash_size - APP_START) / 256. In src/ghostfat.c, uf2_init computes app_offset = BOARD_FLASH_APP_START - BOARD_FLASH_ADDR_ZERO and sets _uf2_sector_count = (_flash_size - app_offset) / 256 when the offset is valid. UF2_SECTOR_COUNT now uses this value, so UF2_BYTE_COUNT (file size) and the block metadata use the span. The numBlocks line is not in the diff hunks. I inferred that it reads UF2_SECTOR_COUNT from the summary and did not confirm it by reading that line. Requirement 2: the read bound changed to fileRelativeSector < UF2_SECTOR_COUNT. Requirement 3 (final-block test): ports/test_ghostfat/boards/4k_appoffset/board.cmake sets CFG_UF2_FLASH_SIZE=0x00100000 with BOARD_FLASH_ADDR_ZERO=0x08000000 and BOARD_FLASH_APP_START=0x08010000. This gives (0x100000-0x10000)/256 = 3840 blocks, 3840512 = 1,966,080 bytes, and a final block at 0x08010000 + 3839256 = 0x080FFF00. These values match the PR description. I did not run the ghostfat test, so this relies on the reported results and the arithmetic. Requirement 4 (across ports): the STM32H7 board.cmake files (daisy_seed, mini_stm32h750_v11) now define BOARD_FLASH_ADDR_ZERO and CFG_UF2_FLASH_SIZE, so the span is computed for those ports. The optional TUF2_ASSERT is framed as a consideration in #509 and is not a required criterion. No coding requirement is unmet in the evidence reviewed.
Full details: Out of Scope Changes check
Explanation
Each change ties to #509. The src/ghostfat.c changes implement the span calculation, the file-size and read-bound changes, and the removal of the old address-based read check, which the new sector-count bound replaces. The ports/test_ghostfat boards.h change and the 4k_appoffset board.cmake and board.h files add the regression configuration and the offset definitions that the test needs. The STM32H7 board.cmake additions supply BOARD_FLASH_ADDR_ZERO and CFG_UF2_FLASH_SIZE, which the span calculation needs. The removed TODO comment in uf2_init relates to the same size logic. No unrelated functional change was found in the reviewed summaries and the ghostfat.c diff. One behavior changed: when BOARD_FLASH_APP_START is below BOARD_FLASH_ADDR_ZERO, the sector count is zero and CURRENT.UF2 is empty. This follows from the span rule and is not a separate unrelated change.
