I'm working to merge #2363 right now. Let me deal with that, then circle back here |

Rebased cleanly onto current main and revalidated the opt-in converter packaging after the newer MCP changes. The MarkItDown MCP test suite passes 24/24 in a fresh Python 3.12 environment; the changed Python regression file passes Black and git diff --check is clean. A package-wide Black check still identifies the pre-existing test_http_transports.py formatting difference outside this PR, so I left that unrelated file untouched. The rewritten single commit is GitHub Verified and the branch is 0 behind. |

Rebased onto current main. All 24 MCP tests pass in a base-only Python 3.12 environment, without optional converters. Adam Fourney (@afourney) Could you review the packaging change and approve CI? |
Fixes #2440.
Depend on base MarkItDown instead of requiring every optional converter.
markitdown-mcp[all]provides the previous full converter set, and the Dockerfile explicitly installs that extra to preserve its behavior. Document base, selective, and full installations.Adds dependency-metadata and HTML-tool regressions, with a clean base-install CI job across Python 3.10 through 3.13. The MCP SDK constraint is unchanged; #2363 remains independent.
Validation:
git diff --checkpass.Native Windows ARM64 execution and a Docker image build were not tested locally.
